Yesterday's devMEET went pretty well considering the small showing after 50 or so people told me they were interested over the past few months. I bet the turnout might've been at least a little better if I hadn't been sick for the past month and had advertised a little better, but I think all you no-shows had plenty of notice.
Even with 8 people, things went well. I consider this a start of a recurring event.
Our meeting place was the center of Harvard Square near the Cambridge Visitor's Information Center booth, which was a little crowded considering the gorgeous weather. Next time we'll meet somewhere a little less packed with people. I immediately ran into ~
darkdescartes and her mother, followed shortly by *
JesterCapp and his recently-sketched deviantART sign (well done JP, I would've had to start walking around asking people if they were there for the dA meet if I hadn't spotted you so easily). ~

rHytHm123, ~
lsvr, *
nny777slavelabor, and ~
akheron joined the group as well.
Our travels took us through Harvard Yard on our way to the
Fogg Art Museum, where we spent some time looking at art and (some of us) getting yelled at for sitting too close to the edge of the 2nd floor railings. Everyone must've been pretty hungry because we all voted to skip the watercolors section and instead went to get something to eat.
~
darkdescartes said goodbye (though most of us apparently didn't catch that) and had to catch a plane while the remaining group was off to
Bombay Club for some excellent Indian food. After lunch, *
nny777slavelabor and ~
akheron decided to take off and visit some friends (they came in from Connecticut, thanks you two). And then there were 5.
I decided since it was such a nice day that we should just head on over to the Cambridge Common and chill. *
JesterCapp (whose 18th birthday was yesterday by the way) did some sketches before he broke out the hacky sack and we showed off in front of ~
rHytHm123's and ~
lsvr's cameras (hopefully you two got some good shots). Eventually we all parted ways and I walked home to get some work done (which is always fun to do on a nice weekend).
Thanks to all of you who showed up, and to those who didn't, we'll be doing this again sometime during the summer I'm sure. Now that the weather is nice, it's a lot easier to get a group of people together out and around Boston.

Ooh, and now I get to go figure out who everyone is on dA!
Also: I'm considering buying some wrist and ankle weights to increase my strength/stamina. I got tired too quickly that day, even with my Gummi Power.

Sounds like you all had a good time, even with the small group.

The ratio of considerings and showings isn't exactly the most ideal. I mean, who wouldn't be interested in going to Boston for a meet, really?
But it sounds like a lot of fun. Can't wait to see some pictures.
